Getting Started with Yoga

Yoga is for every body—no flexibility required! Follow these simple steps to begin your practice with confidence.

1. Start Where You Are

  • You don’t need to touch your toes

  • Modifications are encouraged

  • Progress happens with consistency, not perfection

2. Essential Gear

  • Mat: Choose non-slip (5mm thick ideal)

  • Clothing: Stretchy, breathable fabrics

  • Props: Blocks and straps help (but pillows work too!)

3. 5 Beginner-Friendly Poses

  1. Mountain Pose (Tadasana): Stand tall, feet rooted

  2. Cat-Cow: Sync spine movements with breath

  3. Downward Dog: Pedal feet to stretch gently

  4. Warrior I: Build strength and focus

  5. Child’s Pose: Rest and reset anytime

4. Practice Tips

  • Breathe: Inhale/exhale through nose

  • Go Slow: Hold poses 3-5 breaths

  • Listen to Your Body: Discomfort ≠ pain

5. Beginner Routine

  • 5 min warm-up (neck rolls, shoulder circles)

  • 10 min pose practice (choose 3-5 above)

  • 5 min Savasana (lie still, palms up)

Remember: Yoga is a journey—not a performance. Start with 10-15 minutes daily and grow from there.
